Rik Carmichael

Rik is a screenwriter who often co-writes with the director John Hay.

Together they have collaborated on a number of films including THERE’S ONLY ONE JIMMY GRIMBLE, starring Robert Carlyle and Ray Winstone, THE STEAL, starring Alfred Molina, Stephen Fry and Helen Slater, and THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE, a romantic comedy starring Jennifer Love-Hewitt.

Rik is currently working with John on LIVES IN SECRET, a feature due to film in 2023, based on A Life In Secrets: Vera Atkins and the Lost Agents of SOE by Sarah Helm, and on a feature length screenplay entitled RED RAIN, an epic film charting the Chinese Civil War. He also has a project under option to Atticus Film and TV.

Television work includes CAUSE OF DEATH, a drama based on a true story of medical negligence, commissioned for the BBC’s QED series; LIFE FORCE a futuristic children’s thriller series for ITV; THE MAN-EATING LEOPARD OF RUDRAPRAYAG, a drama commissioned by the BBC’s Natural History Unit based on the life of Wildlife Photography pioneer William Corbett.
