Anna McRoberts is an Emmy-nominated television and feature film director, writer, showrunner, and producer.
She is the co-creator, writer, and producer of the all-time top grossing live-action direct-to-video movie franchise – the nine movie Air Buddies franchise – which sold 45 million units for Disney.
Anna created, wrote and directed Pup Academy, a 22-episode series that premiered on the Disney Channel, then was globally released as a Netflix Original. Pup Academy was a top ten series on the overall Netflix platform in the US, a rare distinction for a children’s series, as well as top ten in many international markets. After Pup Academy’s enormous success, Netflix commissioned Anna to create and direct two all-new Netflix Original Limited Series – the critically-acclaimed Scaredy Cats and Phantom Pups both Top Ten Netflix Original Series. Anna is also the writer and producer of over 20 other successful family films for major studios including Disney, Miramax, Warner Brothers, and Fox.
A renowned and innovative creator, her content has generated over $1B in revenue for her studio partners. Not only an imaginative and experienced writer, director and producer, Ms. McRoberts is also a master franchise and world builder and has a prolific track record of both in launching new IP and maximizing existing IP into successful commercial content and ancillary businesses, as well as transforming IP into high-quality globally successful evergreen family franchises and brands.
Anna served as the President of Air Bud Entertainment for over a decade, and now consults as their Chief Content Officer. She has a deep understanding of all facets of entertainment – development, financing, production, marketing and distribution.
She is an alumni of AFI and UCLA, and resides between the west coast of Canada and California, and holds US, CDN, and UK passports.
