Alex is a writer of drama and comedy, with TV writers’ room experience. His projects often use heightened genre elements and dark humour to frame authentic explorations of mental health, invisible illness, and grief. Other times he writes about goblins whacking each other with sticks.
His comedy credits include the sketch show WOSSON CORNWALL (BBC Radio 4), for which he was one of the lead writers. He has developed projects with Screen Cornwall and Big Deal Films. He also co-creates adult animated sitcoms as one half of The Smith Brothers.
In 2024/25 he completed the Channel 4 New Writers Scheme. His scripts have placed in the top 1% of the annual BBC Open Call and he was chosen for the inaugural cohort of BBC Writers Cornish Voices. In 2025 he was awarded the Ronald Duncan Stipend for Southwest Writing.
Alex also writes interactive narratives for tabletop roleplaying games, including for the popular Warhammer 40,000 franchise. His copywriting alter ego has written thousands of jokes for brands, and in his former life he was a moderately unsuccessful musician.
